Judith Yourman

Judith Yourman creates ceramic sculpture, installations and prints. She is a recent MRAC Next Step Fund grantee, and the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, including awards from the McKnight and Jerome Foundations and the Minnesota State Arts Board. Yourman's current work is a loose response to the earliest drawings of her twin daughters, which inspired and moved her by their simplicity, humor and emotional honesty. It weaves together a visual language floating between real and imagined worlds, blurring boundaries between male and female, human and creature, present and past. In her work, metaphor, memory and material converge to suggest multiple narratives and alternative ways of understanding our shared humanity. It is created for audiences of all ages, providing viewers a playful space for curiosity, imagination, and discovery.
