Caitlin Karolczak is a master oil painter from Minnesota’s Iron Range whose work draws on the strange, beautiful, and sometimes unsettling intersections of art history, biology, and antiquity. Her paintings are rooted in the techniques of the Old Masters, combining traditional methods of oil painting with her own contemporary imagery and subject matter. In addition to painting, she works in installation, sculpture, and performance, often incorporating objects from her personal collection. Karolczak has exhibited internationally throughout the USA, Canada, South America and Europe. In 2022, the Temple of Satan in Salem, Massachusetts, hosted a solo exhibition of her work. In 2023, she received a MN State Arts Board Grant supporting a 2024 exhibition addressing Missing Women. Her work is held in collections across the USA, Australia, South America, the UK, Canada, Israel, and South Africa. She has also been interviewed by art publications in Australia, South America, Croatia, and the US. In addition to her studio at the California Building, Karolczak regularly hosts guest artists, workshops, and group exhibitions in the adjoining gallery space, Storage Contemporary.
